Lessons from 10 years of building PathLynks

I missed my 10-year anniversary. 😳

Back in September, PathLynks quietly turned ten… and while I briefly thought about it, the importance of being in business for a decade quickly faded from my mind.

But as we head into the holiday season, I want to pause and celebrate. Not just the milestone, but the lessons behind it.

Here are the three biggest things I’ve learned over the past decade that I hope can support you on your own path:

Clarity.

When I started, I was running job fairs with two partners and we had no long-term plan. We just did and did and did. At some point, I fell in love with the power of video marketing, with that, PathLynks 2.0 was off to the races!

Today, I have a clear sense of who PathLynks serves, how we make a difference, and where we’re headed. I’m no longer reacting.., I’m leading with purpose.

Lesson Learned: Sometimes clarity only comes from action. We may not know until we start doing.

Confidence.

Ten years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom figuring out how to relaunch my career. Now I know the value I bring. I’ve built skills, clients, a team, and a trusted community. That confidence didn’t come all at once (and some days it goes hiding!), but it’s been transformative.

Lesson Learned: Confidence only comes from action too. It’s ok to be uncertain and still move forward.

Community.

This has always been at the heart of PathLynks. From networking events to podcast interviews, I’ve built deep relationships that fuel everything we do. I attend local events nearly every week… and I love it. I feed off the energy of people and how we can help each other to succeed.

Today, when something comes up that I don’t know how to tackle, I have both the PathLynks team and my extended network to tap into. Together… we raise each other up.

Lesson Learned: We are lonely without a community and a sense of belonging. So go seek it out.

But growth only happens with one more “C”:

Change.

As I reflect on the past, I’m also thinking about the future. Big change is coming in early 2026, and I can’t wait to tell you more. We’re reimagining how we support tech leaders and organizations… and how we keep making a meaningful impact.

Stay tuned!
