AI in Supply Chain: A Conversation with Fortune 10 Tech Executive, Ashish Barve The latest episode of Tech Leaders Untold is live! I sat down with Ashish Barve, a technology executive who’s led transformations at companies including P&G, Honeywell, Ecolab, and McKesson. What makes Ashish’s perspective so powerful? He started his career on the shop floor… and today advises Fortune 10 leadership teams. That “bilingual” fluency in both business and technology shapes everything he does. Here are a few standout moments from our conversation: Tech leaders must speak business Ashish explains why understanding business fundamentals is non-negotiable: “Most IT organizations are in the business of supporting the core businesses… driving top line or optimizing bottom line.” Technology isn’t the goal. Business impact is. Fix the forecast, fix the supply chain Most companies operate at only 60-65% forecasting accuracy. Even a 5-8% improvement can massively impact inventory and customer satisfaction. Translation: focus on getting the right product, in the right place, at the right time. AI dreams vs. reality One of the biggest mistakes leaders make? Overhyping AI’s capabilities. Ashish stresses the importance of setting realistic expectations: “Wrong expectation setting puts technology organizations in a wrong spot.” AI is powerful…but it’s still learning. Humans + machines (not humans vs machines) Ashish is clear: AI won’t replace humanity. But people who use AI will outperform those who don’t. The future belongs to professionals who understand both the physical and digital worlds. Career growth = PIE For anyone stuck at the manager or director level, Ashish shares his career framework: P – Performance I – Image E – Exposure Performance matters, but so does how people experience working with you and whether decision-makers actually know your name. His best mentoring advice “Understand your situation… your values, your experiences, and what you bring to the table.” Self-awareness + consistent delivery = long-term growth. If you’re a tech leader navigating AI, supply chain complexity, or career growth, this episode is packed with practical wisdom. Watch the full episode here!
